I am a 40-something husband, father (two sons) and believer in Jesus Christ. Of course, many people say they are believers in Jesus, so what does that mean? I believe that Jesus is Lord; God the Son and Son of God. Because all of mankind was lost, and stood condemned, God had to do something drastic to spare even a single one of us, so He sent His own Son to die in our place and become an atonement for our sins. Only a sinless sacrifice could pay for our sins, and because only God is sinless He manifested Himself to earthly flesh; He became one of His own creations, though while maintaining his divine nature. Only Jesus, God in the flesh, was able to offer a sinless sacrifice to atone for man’s sins before a righteous Creator.
Drastic indeed! And it was done out of God’s love for us. When you realize that God did this for you and for me it exemplifies how deep His love for us is. It is amazing, and beyond what our finite minds can truly comprehend, though we grasp enough of it to be awestruck. Having cleared the way for man to be united in spirit with God, all that is needed is for man to travel the cleared pathway. If you believe that Jesus is who He said He was, that He died for your sins, that He was resurrected and lives, and receive Him into your heart as Lord and God, you will be redeemed unto God.
